Established July 2007 The Pennsylvania Martial Arts Alliance, or PMAA for short, is located at 1110 7th Avenue in Altoona Pennsylvania. We teach students ages 3 to adult. We offer a variety of styles which are as follows: Hapkido, Jr. Hapkido, Little Eagles, Kids TaeKwonDo, Adult TaeKwonDo, Youth Wrestling, Adult Wrestling, Street Defense, and Women's Self Defense. We also offer a Fight Night which is held every Friday night, and is open to all students age 13 and up. See the schedule for days and times of classes. The head owner/instructor of the PMAA is Steven Morrissey, and he is assisted by Leisl Kapfhammer and Will Astore. Leisl is also a blackbelt in Hapkido and TaeKwonDo, and she assists with the Jr. and Adult Hapkido classes. Will is the instructor of the Threat Response System Class, and also helps assist with Jr. and Adult Hapkido classes. Our wrestling instructor is Jim Gority and our Morning Hapkido Instructor is Amy Croft.
Hapkido is our current
reigning art form. Our Hapkido class is split into three sections: Jr.
Hapkido, Youth Hapkido, and Adult Hapkido. Fight Night is held every Friday night and is open to any student from any art form who is age 13 or older. During each fight, students will learn where their strengths and weaknesses lie. They will also learn submissions(joint locks, chokes, etc.), takedowns, offensive positions, defenseive positions, and placement of kicks and strikes. Participating in Fight Night will not only improve the students skill, but it will also give them a simulation of a real fight. Students are required to wear MMA gloves and a mouthpiece for theses fights. For more information, contact Steven Morrissey at (814)932-2530.
